ZOE Empowers Silent Auction FAQ

Zoe Auction 2025 FAQ

The Zoe team understands that the auction looks much different this year. We know, we had to process this, too. It may look different, although the mission remains the same: raise money for FUMC Belmont’s latest Zoe Empowers group in Rwanda

Q: When are the silent auction and live auction?

A: Silent auction bidding is Oct 5, 12, and 19. Live auction is Oct 26

Q: Do I have to be present on Oct 26 to win a silent auction item?

A: No. Highest bidders who are not present on Oct 26 have until Nov 10 to pay and collect their items. After Nov 10, the next highest bidder will be contacted.

Q: Do I have to be present to win the live auction item?

A: Yes, the live auction is a live bidding process, and you must be present to bid and win. All live auction items must be paid for by 1:00 pm on October 26.

Q: How do I know what to bid?

A: Starting bids are listed on the box next to the auction items in the green box.

Q: Is there online bidding?

A: Our team has thoughtfully considered this option, but at this time, the cost of offering online bidding would reduce the amount of money going directly to Zoe. Currently, 100% of the auction proceeds benefit FUMCB’s Zoe Empowers group, and we are committed to maximizing that impact.

Q: Where does the bid money go?

A: All proceeds of the auction will be sent to Zoe Empowers, where they will allocate all the funds to FUMCB’s specific empowerment group, Ikizere “Hope”

Q: What if I want to just give a donation?

A:  At any of the events on Oct 5, Oct 12, Oct 19, or Oct 26 you can find a Zoe Committee member or church staff member and donate.  If you want to pay by check, please write the check out to FUMB and in the memo line write “Zoe”.  If you would like to make an online donation, please use the following website link to ensure your donation is allocated to FUMCB’s Ikizere empowerment group: https://zmpw.rs/fumc-belmont

Q: What will happen at the Oct 26 breakfast event?

A: The Zoe team is preparing for an event full of fun, fellowship, and giving.  Carpenter Hall will be transformed as you will be served a beautiful breakfast: egg casserole (GF), sausage biscuits, yogurt parfaits, a variety of muffins & croissants, and French toast sticks. Coffee, OJ, and water will also be provided.

While finishing breakfast, the Zoe team prepared a short and sweet presentation on why our church supports Zoe and the impact FUMCB has had since becoming group supporters in 2017. A special Zoe Child moment will be revealed.  Silent auction winners will be announced, and our MC, Chad McAlister, will start the LIVE auction, where you will outbid your fellow church members to be the winners of trips, Blackstone accessories, or a backyard entertainment system!

Q: How can I pay for the item(s) won?

A: Zoe team members will be present at the end of the Live Auction and after the 11:00 AM service to collect money.  You may pay by cash, check, or VANCO. If you want to pay by check, please write the check out to FUMB and in the memo line write “Zoe”

Q: Who is Gaston Warner and why is he speaking at the services on OCT 26?

A: Rev. Gaston Warner is an elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He has consulted with and served on a number of non-profit boards and as staff for Habitat for Humanity, Duke Divinity School, and Duke University Chapel. Gaston joined Zoe Empowers as a board member in 2007 and currently serves as CEO, Global North.
