Gaston County Warming Center

Warming Center

The Gaston County Warming Center will open when the temperature drops below 32 degrees to provide a safe warm place for neighbors to gather.  Through the generosity of the FUMCB congregation we provide financial support for the operating of this center.  The center is located in the family life center at First United Methodist Church of Gastonia at190 E. Franklin Blvd, Gastonia.

Volunteers are needed to staff the evening hours so neighbors are greeted with a friendly smile and someone to assist them in finding any supplies they need to help them be comfortable through the night.

Details that will help you in volunteering are noted here:

*Shifts are only for 2-3 hours at a time.  Check out the sign up for details.

*You must be 18 years olds to serve and sign up for a background screening. (If you have a background check on file here through our safe sanctuary program at FUMCB, we should be able to transfer your information.)

*You do need to stay awake through your shift (and arrive 10 minutes before it starts)
