Summer Worship Series Begins June 26: Life on the Vine

Vines and vineyards are all over the Scripture.  In the Old Testament, God’s people Israel were often described in terms of a vineyard.  Jesus told stories about planting vineyards, and taught the disciples that they were his branches, called to be fruitful.  Come join us this summer as we explore what the Bible can teach us about living good, fruitful and joy-filled lives of faith.

June 26 – Taking Care of the Land (Psalm 80, Isaiah 5:1-7)

July 03 – The Importance of Pruning (John 15:1-8)

July 10 – Working in the Vineyard  (Matthew 20:1-16)

July 17 – One More Chance (Luke 13:1-9)

July 24 – The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:1-25)

July 31 – You Saved the Best for Last (John 2:1-11)

As we explore scriptural stories of vines and vineyards in worship, join us on Sunday, July 24 for an afternoon with your church family at the Baker Buffalo Creek Vineyard and Winery in Lawndale.  We’ll meet with owners Charles and Ann Edwards, who will share reflections on the spiritual dimensions of winemaking.  Later, we’ll have a service of Holy Communion in their outdoor chapel.  We will have the opportunity to experience an optional wine tasting ($7/person) and share in fellowship with one another.  Children and families are welcome!  Bring your own picnic!

For those interested in transportation from FUMC-Belmont, we will depart at 3 p.m.
