FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF BELMONT, NC

First United Methodist Church in Belmont, NC has a staff opening for a Child Development Center Director.  This staff person works in partnership with the pastor, other staff and laity of the congregation to oversee the ministry of our child development center. Our CDC provides a year-round, full day child care and preschool program for infants through pre-K as well as an afterschool program for K-5th grade. We serve 70 children from the church and community.  The oldest CDC in Belmont, our program has a long history and proud legacy of providing excellent care and instruction to generations of children.  Our current director is retiring after 47 years of service, and we are looking for someone to build on her incredible work as we continue to reach and serve children and families, living our mission to be more like Jesus Christ for our community and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and administer personnel and financial responsibilities for the CDC.
  • Ensure open, proactive communication with all families and staff.
  • Ensure CDC is in compliance with all regulatory requirements including the NC DHHS, Health Department, FUMC Safe Sanctuaries Policy, and other accrediting agencies.
  • Work with the CDC Board of Directors, pastors and church staff to advance the mission of FUMC, nurturing growth and development for all children within the CDC.
  • Ensure the CDC is functioning at full capacity.
  • Provide high quality curriculum that is developmentally appropriate.
  • Ensure all staff maintains awareness of job responsibilities and requirements and are evaluated on an ongoing basis.

Requirements
BA in Early Childhood Education, or related field.  Minimum 5 years in childcare with supervisory experience preferred.  Physical ability to lift children and drive the church van. This is a full time, salaried position. Salary is competitive and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
