In May, 2019 a called Church Conference approved preliminary designs for renovation of our sanctuary and the construction of a new narthex and authorized our church to conduct a capital campaign to raise funds for the project. In the fall, our Ready campaign received over $1.3 million in commitments. As of January 31, 2021, we have received over $660,000 for the project.
Since then, our Building and Renovation Committee has been hard at work: working with our architects to develop detailed plans, interviewing and selecting a contractor, meeting with District and Conference leaders to gain approval of the project, and developing a plan to finance construction while our capital campaign continues. The Committee is now ready to present their work for final approval by the church and begin construction.
A Church conference has been called for Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The conference will be held simultaneously in-person in our sanctuary and on the Zoom platform. All professing members of First United Methodist Church of Belmont are eligible to vote.
