“If I knew the world would end tomorrow, I would plant a tree.”
- Martin Luther
Like 1861, 1929, or 1941, 2020 has felt at times like the world as we know it is ending. Such feelings have brought much fear, grief and discouragement. Yet, God remains at work. As Christians, we know that ultimately, the end will bring fulfillment: the restoration and renewal and completion of all that God has begun in us and in our world. Like Martin Luther, we place our hope in God’s good future and commit to working for it now: planting seeds of faith through our generosity and service, investing in what we cannot see but know will come to fruition.
Ultimately, this is what God invites each of us to do as we consider our estimates of giving for 2021. Our church has met the challenges of this year as faithfully and as creatively as possible. We’ve never stopped living our mission to be more like Jesus Christ for our community and beyond. Though 2021 will bring many unknowns, we are certain about our continued commitment to being the hands of feet of Christ for one another, for Belmont and beyond. Your 2021 commitments support our ongoing work and ministry, making all that we do together possible day in and day out.
We’re also entering the second year of our Readycampaign, in which we made above-and-beyond commitments to a capital campaign effort. We are making much progress with our architects and contractors and hope to be able to break ground and begin the renovation and expansion of our campus very soon. In the face of every uncertainty, our financial generosity plants seeds of faith that will grow in God’s good future of restoration and renewal. Won't you join us as we plant and grow in God's grace together?
