After an extensive, 3-month search, reviewing over 20 resumes from across the United States and even Canada,our Staff-Parish Relations Committee accepted the recommendation of our Music Search Committee and has hired a new Director of Music to lead our music ministry. Elizabeth Davis will join our staff on May 1.
Elizabeth holds a B.A. in Piano/Music Education with a minor in organ studies, and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. While at UNCG, she was awarded a scholarship for First Place in Piano from the Metropolitan Music Ministry Foundation Competition in Charlotte, NC. Elizabeth is currently a Candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina where she is completing final requirements. Her dissertation research is focused on teaching piano to students with Autism.
In addition to graduate school, Elizabeth teaches piano students from age 3 to adult, and is also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia International University and other music schools in Columbia. She enjoys playing a variety of classical/sacred styles, as well as jazz and composing her own musical arrangements for piano, organ and choir.
Elizabeth grew up in a minister’s home, and has been involved in church music as a pianist, organist, Sunday School teacher, children’s music director, and adult choir director for over 10 years in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. She has also enjoyed directing several children’s and adult musical productions and performing organ/piano benefit concerts. Elizabeth has also accompanied classical and sacred instrumental, orchestral, vocal and choral groups for competitions and performances across the US and has performed concerts in Ireland and Taiwan.
